The Virgin Islands Office of Veterans Affairs is happy to notify Veterans that the new Veterans’ License Plate is available at our St Thomas and St. Croix office. Plates will be issued between the hours of 9am and 3:30pm Monday Friday. Veterans’ license plates are FREE to Veterans however; you must pay for the registration process.
In order to receive a Veteran license plate you must be a registered Veteran within the Virgin Islands Office of Veterans Affairs. If you are not registered within the V.I. Office of Veterans Affairs you must bring your DD214 showing proof of your Veteran status to the office. Veterans cannot receive their new license plates no earlier than one week prior to the month they are required to register their vehicle. Once the month for you to register your vehicle has passed, your old Veterans license plates can no longer be registered. This will assist us with having all previous Veterans plates off of the street by April 30, 2020.
In addition to being registered in the office, Veterans must present the registration document that is about to be renewed. For those that are importing a car to the Virgin Islands you must present proof of paying your road tax on your vehicle before receiving a set of plates.
As a reminder, each Veteran is authorized to have no more than 2 sets of Veterans plates registered in their name.
